KIM G. MAYHALL was a founding member of the firm Mayhall Fondren Blaize, and now serves as senior counsel to the firm in the Baton Rouge office. Mr. Mayhall has practiced exclusively in the field of oil and gas law since 1981 representing primarily operators and producers. Mr. Mayhall has extensive experience in title examination, division order work, acquisitions, litigation, contracts, State Mineral Board matters, and Louisiana Office of Conservation matters. Mr. Mayhall has represented numerous operators in drafting and negotiation of mineral leases, farmout agreements, joint operating agreements, participation agreements, seismic development agreements, road rights-of-way, pipeline rights-of-way, surface use agreements, and all manner of other agreements pertinent to the oil and gas business in the State of Louisiana.
Following graduation from law school, Mr. Mayhall served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Fred A. Blanche, Jr. on both the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal and the Louisiana Supreme Court. In 1981, Mr. Mayhall entered the private practice and founded his own firm for the practice of oil and gas law. In 2004, Mr. Mayhall left the firm he had founded and operated for 23 years to become a partner with the large firm of Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson in Baton Rouge. In 2006, Mr. Mayhall left Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson to join with Charles Blaize to start the firm of Mayhall & Blaize, LLC. In 1987, Mr. Mayhall was inducted into the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center Hall of Fame.
In 1990, Mr. Mayhall served on the Governor’s Oil Prevention and Contingency Task Force which was responsible for drafting the Louisiana Oil Spill Act of 1991.
